Naname is working at her computer. Seth walks up behind her
Seth: Honey... How's work?
Naname turns to face Seth
Naname: Work? Catch up, of course. Even when they know you'll be gone for a week the amount of work they expect from you doesn't change.
Seth: You're... busy then?
Naname: I would be.
Seth: Honey... did you enjoy our trip?
Naname: It was good to see Misaki again. She's been stressed from work, so it was nice to catch up. And it was nice to see my too little sweeties really getting along for the first time.
Seth: Her English has gotten a lot better so it's easier for us to talk now.
Naname: She's improved a lot, hasn't she?
Seth: Yeah, I'm sure she's worked hard for it...
Naname: ...
Seth: ... uh ...
Naname: Okay, what do you want to say.
Seth: <Sigh>, I might have a work trip back to Japan next week...
Naname: What?
Seth: Yeah, Yamato's lab is nearly done with the research, but needs a couple extra- extra bits and all the help they can get... So I've been asked to go back... and... and help.. and I- I know it's inconvenient, it's inconvenient for me too, but-
Naname: When did you hear about this?
Seth: Like... yesterday?
Naname: You tried moving it, or asking someone else to go?
Seth: Yeah, I- I tried, it... didn't work out.
Naname: Well that is inconvenient, isn't it. Though I should be able to work remotely for a week, and it'll be good to be around for Misaki. She would appreciate me being around.
Seth: You... Don't *have* to come you know. Like... it's a lot of a hassle, and... and you have work right? they aren't gonna just let you work remotely so suddenly for a week and...
Naname: It's not that inconvenient for me. Sure, my boss isn't going to be happy, but I don't care. Why would I not want to go with my sweetie.
Seth: Don't... don't force yourself for me. It's- It's really not necessary.
Naname: Japan's my home country as well, you know? I'm not doing it just for you.
Seth: The company accommodation will only provide a room for one...
Naname: Ask them for a room for two then. Or I'm sure we can make a one person room work.
Seth: Yeah... I'll go ask.
Seth leaves the room. Naname watches him leave.
Naname: What is he up to...

ナナメはパソコンで作業している。セスが後ろから近づいてくる。
セス：ねえ、仕事…どう？
ナナメがセスの方を向く。
ナナメ：仕事？ 当然、溜まってるよ。一週間いなくなるって分かってても、求められる仕事量は変わらないんだから。
セス：……忙しい、ってこと？
ナナメ：まあ、そうね。
セス：ねえ……旅行、楽しかった？
ナナメ：久しぶりにミサキに会えて良かったよ。仕事で疲れてたみたいだから、話せてよかった。それに、うちの可愛い子たちがちゃんと仲良くしてるのを見るのも嬉しかったし。
セス：彼女、英語だいぶ上達してたよね。話すのも楽になった。
ナナメ：うん、すごく頑張ったんだろうね。
セス：うん……きっと……
ナナメ：……。
セス：……あの……。
ナナメ：で、何が言いたいの？
セス：（ため息）来週、日本にまた出張になるかもしれなくて……
ナナメ：えっ？
セス：うん……大和（やまと）の研究室が、もうすぐ研究終わるんだけど、あとちょっとだけ足りないみたいでさ……だから、手伝ってほしいって言われて……それで……行かないといけなくて……俺にとってもタイミング悪いけど……
ナナメ：それ、いつ聞いたの？
セス：えっと……昨日とか？
ナナメ：じゃあ、他の人に代わってもらうとか、日程をずらすとか、試した？
セス：うん、やってみたけど……ダメだった。
ナナメ：それは確かに面倒ね。でも、私は一週間ぐらいならリモートワークできるし。ミサキのそばにもいられるし、あの子もきっと喜ぶわ。
セス：……いや、無理に来なくてもいいんだよ？ だって、結構手間だし……仕事もあるでしょ？ いきなり一週間リモートって、難しくない？
ナナメ：そんなに大変じゃないよ。上司は文句言うかもだけど、気にしない。だって、大好きなあなたと一緒にいたいんだから。
セス：いや……無理しないで。ほんと、そこまでしなくていいよ。
ナナメ：日本は私の母国でもあるんだよ？ あなたのためだけじゃないから。
//（ナナメ、セスの様子に疑いを持ち始める。）
セス：会社の宿泊施設、一人用の部屋しか出してくれないみたいで……
ナナメ：じゃあ二人部屋にしてもらうよう頼んでよ。それが無理でも、一人部屋を工夫すればなんとかなるでしょ。
セス：……うん、頼んでみるよ。
セスが部屋を出ていく。ナナメはその背中を見つめる。
ナナメ：（小声で）何を企んでるのよ……。
